Community Sport Leaders

WHAT IS A COMMUNITY SPORT LEADER?

Football Canada’s Community Sport Leaders are experts in the community who help in the delivery of Football Canada’s programs. Their role is to manage the coaches and the volunteers during the events and also deliver the Football Canada’s NCCP Community Sport module. By doing so, they will actively help create an environment focused on fun, safety and development to our grassroots athletes.

HOW TO BECOME A COMMUNITY SPORT LEADER?

The easiest way to have access to a CSL is to have someone in your organization be trained to assume the role. That person should be someone who is involved in the current operations of your organization as it will be easier for him/her to work with the rest of the coaches and the volunteers.

The pathway to become a CSL starts with a background check. The candidate must then become trained in Safe Contact and NCCP Community Sport E-learning module. He/she will then take part in a weekend-long workshop to obtain his/her Facilitator certification (Core Facilitator Modules), Community Sport coach certification (Community Sport module), Fundamental Movement Skills certification and learn the specifics on how to be a CSL (Mentor, Program deliverer, Administrator).
